Liability: If the renter is found to be at fault in an accident, liability coverage will pay for damage to another person’s property (property damage liability) or for costs associated with another person’s injuries (bodily injury liability). Liability insurance is required in all states, but the minimum liability varies per state. 
Comprehensive &amp; Collision: Covers exterior property damage to the rented unit up to the actual cash value of your vehicle, with a maximum of $1M for all qualified vehicles 2000 and newer. Vehicles from 1999 and older are covered for the value of the vehicle up to $75,000. Comprehensive and collision coverage does not cover damages to another vehicle.

What happens after I file a claim?
Our claims process will generally unfold in the following way:

<li>Gathering Information — Our claims team will ask for any other pertinent information to move forward with your claim. This includes a statement from your renter, any other evidence that is required, and proof of ownership (e.g., registration, title). 
</li>
<li>The Estimate — While our claims team is gathering information, our appraisal team at RVBetter will do the heavy lifting for you. They’ll contact you within 24 hours of filing your claim to get photos of your rig, including the damage, and usually complete the estimate within 3-4 hours of getting these pictures. We’ll be in touch once we complete step 3. 
</li>
<li>Confirming Coverage — We’re almost there! Your adjuster will review the statements, documents, photos, estimate, and all other necessary information to confirm it’s a covered loss. You can find the policy language here.  
</li>
<li>Payment — Hate waiting for a check? We make claim settlements a breeze with direct deposits. We’ll notify you via email once your payment is ready. Simply follow the instructions to enter your bank information, and it’ll arrive within 24-48 hours.  
</li>
<li>Closing the Loop — Once you have payment in hand, we’ll charge the renter their deductible and handle any other outstanding issues that might be present (e.g., if a third party is involved). Feel free to take your estimate and payment to any shop of choice to get the repairs started.

<li>Post Claim Follow Up — If your repair shop requests <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/insurance-supplement" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">a supplement</a>, this simply means that they need additional time and/or expense to complete the work. They can request a supplement by using the instructions on the first page of the estimate.</li>

How do I file a claim?

Outdoorsy’s insurance covers vehicles for travel into Canada. Please confirm directly with the owner before taking the vehicle across the Canadian border. Owners will always have the final say on whether or not this is allowed.
Our insurance does not insure rentals that travel into Mexico.

Am I covered if I travel into Canada or Mexico?

Our renters complete <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/what-is-a-dmv-check-and-do-i-have-to-do-one" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a two-step verification process</a> upon booking a unit through Outdoorsy. 
If a driver does not automatically pass or is unable to complete either step, there are options for review. Our support team can be reached 24/7 via phone, chat or email and is available to assist with escalating the manual review request. 
Manual Review
Our Trust &amp; Safety team, with assistance from our underwriting team, will manually evaluate the booking upon request.
Depending on the value of the vehicle and other factors, our underwriting team may require an increased security deposit. This security deposit acts as usual and would be fully refunded pending no ancillary charges or damage claim. 
Unable to Insure
If after manual review we are unable to extend coverage, both the owner and renter are made aware. At this time, any purchased package will be removed from the booking and refunded. It is at the discretion of the owner whether to cancel the booking or work with the renter to obtain outside coverage.
 
While we do not assist in facilitating the outside coverage, we would recommend that both parties verify coverage amounts and limitations and ensure that the unit will be fully covered during the rental period.

Why would a renter fail driver verification? What are my options?

If your vehicle does not qualify for liability coverage, your renters will need to obtain an insurance binder from a third-party insurance company for securing liability insurance.

My vehicle is not covered by liability insurance. What should I do?

Yes, your personal policy will cover your vehicle for your personal use, but does not apply when your vehicle is being rented out. If anything occurs during the rental period, your insurance provider will likely decline coverage. This gap in coverage is why Outdoorsy offers commercial rental insurance to all qualified owners.

You can update your credit card in your account at anytime.



If you have a trip booked, be sure to update your card on your trip page. Otherwise, you can update it in your account settings.

<h5>If you already have a trip booked and you’d like any upcoming charges to go on a new card, use these instructions.&nbsp;</h5>



Be sure to do this when logged in to the desktop or mobile website. This functionality is not yet available on our iPhone or Android apps — sorry about that.



From the My account dropdown in the upper right, select Upcoming trips. 



Select the trip you need to update the card for. Then, scroll down to and expand the Payment &amp; cancellation section.



Under Payment details, select Change payment method. Then, open the dropdown and select Add payment method.



Once you’ve added your card, any upcoming payments for the trip will go on your new card. The card will also be saved to your account.&nbsp;

If the booking value exceeds the US$1,000.00 credit, then the winner will be solely and completely responsible for covering the booking expenses beyond the prize amount. Such booking must purchase the maximum available insurance coverage offered through the Outdoorsy.com booking platform. Outdoorsy will not be responsible for covering additional trip costs on and/or off platform, including but not limited to, mileage overage fees, gas, campground reservations, airfare or any other costs and expenses. Decisions made by Outdoorsy are final and binding in all matters, including interpretation of these Official Rules and awarding of the prize. Entrants assume all risk of loss, damage, destruction, delay, or misdirection of Contest materials submitted to Outdoorsy. By participating in the Contest, you agree to release from liability and hold harmless Outdoorsy and its parent company, affiliates, and related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, and employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.



<h4>Limitation of liability</h4>



Outdoorsy is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, malfunctions, delays, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (4) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, stolen, misdirected, or postage-due entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. <h4>Disputes</h4>



This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and State of Texas without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that any and all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively and solely before a state or federal court located in Austin, Texas. Further, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.



<h4>Privacy policy</h4>



Information submitted with an online entry is subject to the Privacy Policy stated on Outdoorsy’s website.

To obtain a copy of the winner’s name or a copy of these Official Rules, mail your request along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Outdoorsy. Residents of Vermont may omit return postage. Requests must be received during the Contest Period.

Can I track where renters take my vehicle?

The amount on your 1099-K represents your tax liability as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).



The IRS requires Outdoorsy to base our 1099-K reporting on the gross reportable payments that renters make to our platform.&nbsp;



<ul><li>Included in 1099-K reporting: For each rental, the amount a renter pays for the vehicle (nightly rate multiplied by the number of nights), as well as any add-ons. This is before the owner service fee has been subtracted.</li><li>Not included in 1099-K reporting: The amount renters pay directly to Outdoorsy for insurance, as a renter service fee, and as sales/transactional tax.</li></ul>



<h4>Why include the owner service fee on 1099-Ks?</h4>



Because it doesn’t come out of the customer’s payment to Outdoorsy. It comes out of our payout to you.



Again, the IRS requires us to base our 1099-K reporting on renters’ payments and not owners’ payouts.&nbsp;



This means your 1099-K will differ from your total payouts for the year in your Outdoorsy account. The difference is the owner service fee. It’s included in 1099-K reporting. It’s not included in your total payouts for the year.&nbsp;



This could change in the future. We watch tax laws closely so we can help you comply. We’ll implement any changes that impact you and your tax liability.



<h4>Reminder about service fees</h4>



Both RV owners and renters pay a service fee. Renters pay a percentage of their rental cost. Owners, a percentage of their payout. This helps enable Outdoorsy to maintain a secure and updated platform.

Where’d the taxable amount on my 1099-K come from?

The federal government imposes tax reporting requirements on companies like Outdoorsy. This means we must notify the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of reportable payments that just about everyone receives from our platform.



Without your tax info, we can’t do this. But, that doesn’t mean you&#8217;re off the hook.



By law, if Outdoorsy doesn’t have your tax information, we must withhold at least 24% of your reportable payments as income tax. We remit this to the IRS for you.&nbsp;



<h4>Where do I add my tax info?</h4>



You can add your tax information in the Account area of your <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/dashboard/account/payout" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dashboard</a>, on the Payout preferences or Tax docs tab.&nbsp;



<h4>What if I don’t add my tax info?</h4>



Automatic withholding (24% of your reportable payments) begins January 1, 2022.



<h4>Can I stop automatic withholdings once they’ve begun?</h4>



Yes, once you provide your tax information, Outdoorsy will stop withholding on future payouts.



<h4>What happens to the money that Outdoorsy withholds?</h4>



We remit the money to the IRS in your name, and you may be able to treat the withholdings as tax payments made by you. However, you may face difficulties given that the payments we remit aren’t tied to your taxpayer identification number.&nbsp;



That’s why, even if withholding has started, you should provide your tax information to Outdoorsy.&nbsp;



You should consult with your tax professional for more information.



<h4>I just submitted my tax information. Will Outdoorsy pay me back what it withheld?</h4>



It depends on when the withholding occurred and when you submitted your tax information. However, generally, Outdoorsy is prohibited from returning withheld amounts.&nbsp;



<h4>Does Outdoorsy always notify the IRS of my reportable payments?</h4>



It depends on how much you receive in <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/whered-the-taxable-amount-on-my-1099-k-come-from" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reportable payments</a> each year:



<h5>$600 or more</h5>



Yes, we must notify the IRS of your reportable payments, starting in 2022. We’ll also prepare a 1099-K for you and send a copy to the IRS.&nbsp;



<h5>Less than $600</h5>



We may not report anything to the IRS. You should consult with your own tax advisers to determine whether you need to report any activity on your income tax return.



<h4>American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021</h4>



If you’ve been active on Outdoorsy and have never come across these tax requirements, it’s because some of them are new for 2022.



ARPA introduced the $600 threshold for tax reporting. This goes into effect on January 1, 2022.
