Physical Damage Coverage for Outdoorsy Renters (US Rentals)

<p>Outdoorsy includes windshield coverage in all of our protection packages. Renters purchase these packages to cover the rented vehicle during the rental period.</p>
<p>If windshield damage caused by a collision or comprehensive event occurs during the rental period, Outdoorsy&#8217;s windshield coverage may:</p>
<ul>
<li>Repair chips or cracks not in the field of vision at no additional cost to the renter or owner.</li>
<li>Replace the windshield, in which case the renter will pay a deductible.</li>
</ul>
<p class="p3"><span class="s1">Please note, the following would not be covered:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span class="s3">Cracks originating from neglected chips that have increased in length or severity over time or after successive trips.</span></li>
<li><span class="s3">Dry, cracked, brittle, or loose weather stripping around windshield / windows due to aging.</span></li>
<li><span class="s3">Peeling or nicks to window tint, flexing, or bracing of the windshield or windshield moldings. </span></li>
<li>Any damage not caused by a collision or comprehensive event.</li>

What does Outdoorsy’s windshield coverage include?

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Let’s break it down. Our C</span><span class="s2">omprehensive and Collision coverage for exterior damages is available to RVs, travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers, truck campers, campervans, sports mobiles, and certified Westfalias, VW campers, and vintage units. Note that this excludes tow vehicles unless they’re also listed on Outdoorsy and rented at the same time as the trailer. Tow vehicles must be approved for coverage separately from a trailer.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">Older Westfalias, VW vans, and vintage units can be covered under our Vintage Plan for both Liability and Comprehensive &amp; Collision. The Vintage Plan covers only $75,000 for Comprehensive &amp; Collision.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">There is no restriction on age for trailers, as long as they pass their regularly scheduled mechanical safety inspections.</span></p>

<li class="li5"><span class="s4">Only transactions made through Outdoorsy qualify for our $1M RV liability and up to $500,000 Comprehensive &amp; Collision insurance.</span></li>
<li class="li5"><span class="s4">Interior damage is not covered under the Outdoorsy Comprehensive and Collision coverage, optional Damage Protection coverage can be purchased for interior damage protection.</span></li>
<li class="li5"><span class="s4">Losses caused by mechanical failures, wear and tear, lack of maintenance, or damages occurring over time, are not covered.</span></li>
<li class="li5"><span class="s4">Collision policy goes back as far as we elect on newer motorized vehicles, but a rate charge may apply.</span></li>
<li class="li5"><span class="s4">Every vehicle must pass an inspection of its tires, brakes, LP, and gas, within 90 days of the reservation departure. Outdoorsy’s insurers reserve the right to request these inspection documents in the case of a claim.</span></li>
<li class="li5"><span class="s4">Vehicles must be registered, meet all safety standards, and be certified through and listed with Outdoorsy.</span></li>
<li class="li5"><span class="s4">All drivers, including the primary contract signer, must be verified through the Outdoorsy verification process.</span></li>
<li class="li5"><span class="s4">Our coverage does not extend to rentals entering Mexico.</span></li>
<li class="li5"><span class="s4">Damage as a result of vandalism or theft during the rental period must also include a police report for submission to our claims team.</span></li>
<li class="li5"><span class="s4">The protection package for renters is mandatory and cannot be opted out of unless the driver has failed the verification, in which case they will need an insurance binder.</span></li>
<li class="li6"><span class="s4">Loss of use for personal use or for upcoming scheduled rentals is not covered by Outdoorsy.</span></li>
<li>In the event a claim needs to be filed, you need to have pre-trip photos, post-trip photos, and either the <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Driveable-RV-Departure-Form.pdf">Driveable RV Departure</a> and<a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Driveable-RV-Return-Form.pdf"> RV Return</a> forms or the <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Towable-RV-Departure-Form.pdf">Towable RV Departure</a> and <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Towable-RV-Return-Form.pdf">RV return</a> forms, completed and signed.</li>

Summary of Protection Policy

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Outdoorsy’s insurance covers vehicles for travel into Canada. Please confirm directly with the owner before taking the vehicle across the Canadian border. Owners will always have the final say on whether or not this is allowed.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Our insurance does not insure rentals that travel into Mexico.</span></p>


Am I covered if I travel into Canada or Mexico?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Drivers must be at least 25 years of age, have a current license, and clean driving history.</span></p>


Is there an age restriction for insuring renters?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Yes, your personal policy will cover your vehicle for your personal use, but does not apply when your vehicle is being rented out. If anything occurs during the rental period, your insurance provider will likely decline coverage. This gap in coverage is why Outdoorsy offers commercial rental insurance to all qualified owners.</span></p>

Do I still need to have a personal policy?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Outdoorsy is the only peer-to-peer RV rental platform to provide commercial insurance for qualified renters and owners renting on Outdoorsy when the owner’s personal RV insurance would not apply.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Our insurance protection plans feature tiered deductibles depending on the value of the rented vehicle. The renter is responsible for the deductible, which can range from $1,000 to $4,000 on the Physical Damage and Comprehensive &amp; Collision coverages in the event of a damage claim. The deductible is the responsibility of the renter.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">This insurance is embedded in the rental process with no additional premiums or monthly fees for owners. Outdoorsy’s protection is fully integrated and requires no additional effort outside of basic vehicle information from the owner and a renter background check for each rental. Outdoorsy’s coverage extends to all states (except New York), as well as vehicles traveling into Canada. (Our insurance does not extend into Mexico).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The Outdoorsy insurance policy also covers international travelers who agree to an international background check and have an international driver’s license or permit for the class of vehicle they’re renting (i.e. if they have a Class B international license, they can’t rent a Class A vehicle).</span></p>

<p>From the My account dropdown in the upper right, select Upcoming trips. </p>



<p>Select the trip you need to update the card for. Then, scroll down to and expand the Payment &amp; cancellation section.</p>



<p>Under Payment details, select Change payment method. Then, open the dropdown and select Add payment method.</p>



<p>Once you’ve added your card, any upcoming payments for the trip will go on your new card. The card will also be saved to your account.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Outdoorsy makes no representations or warranties whatsoever as to the ability to use the prize to book and rent any particular vehicle listed on the Outdoorsy.com platform. A winner making a booking on the Outdoorsy.com platform agrees that additional criteria may be imposed by the listed vehicle’s owner. If the booking value exceeds the US$1,000.00 credit, then the winner will be solely and completely responsible for covering the booking expenses beyond the prize amount. Such booking must purchase the maximum available insurance coverage offered through the Outdoorsy.com booking platform. Outdoorsy will not be responsible for covering additional trip costs on and/or off platform, including but not limited to, mileage overage fees, gas, campground reservations, airfare or any other costs and expenses. All bookings on the Outdoorsy.com platform must fully comply with the terms and conditions and other policies therein.</p>



<h3>Winner selection and notification</h3>



<p>As described in “How to Enter,” three potential winners will be selected each calendar week during the Contest Period. The three potential winners’ submissions will be published and displayed (anonymously) on multiple channels, including but not limited to paid social, other organic communities, and partner channels. Users of such channels may vote on their favorite submission, and the submission with the most votes will be selected as a potential winner.&nbsp; In the event of a tie, Outdoorsy in its sole discretion may select the winner. The potential winner will be notified via email addresses provided on the submission. In order to receive the prize, the potential winner must return email communications with Outdoorsy’s team to set the delivery conditions of the prize. If the potential winner fails to give respond to the email within 14 days or is found to be, in Outdoorsy’s sole discretion, ineligible or in violation of these Official Rules, such potential winner and his/her entry will be disqualified, and an alternate winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries.&nbsp; Outdoorsy may request paperwork that the potential winner will be required to complete in order to be awarded the prize (including, but not limited to, a publicity release, tax documentation, drivers license information, evidence of insurability, and/or liability release). The failure to do so will render the potential winner ineligible. If the potential winner is under the age of 25, they will need to be accompanied on their reward trip by a verified driver (verified in Outdoorsy’s sole discretion) over the age of 25 who will be responsible for being the driver of the vehicle during the rental period and who will be legally responsible for compliance with all terms and conditions related to accepting and using the prize, including the provision of paperwork and the releases and indemnifications described in these Official Rules. The prize will be available for redemption until September 4, 2023. The receipt of the prize offered in this Contest by the potential winner is conditional upon compliance with these Official Rules and any and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.</p>



<h4>General terms</h4>



<p>Decisions made by Outdoorsy are final and binding in all matters, including interpretation of these Official Rules and awarding of the prize. Entrants assume all risk of loss, damage, destruction, delay, or misdirection of Contest materials submitted to Outdoorsy. Outdoorsy reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest, or any part of it, if any virus, bugs, other technical failures, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or any other causes beyond Outdoorsy’s control impair the administration, security, integrity, or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Outdoorsy in its sole discretion. Outdoorsy in its sole discretion reserves the right to disqualify any entrant it finds to be tampering with or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules. Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws, and, should such an attempt be made, Outdoorsy reserves the right to seek damages from such persons to the fullest extent permitted by law. Outdoorsy’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that term.</p>



<h4>Release and indemnification</h4>



<p>By participating in the Contest, you agree to release from liability and hold harmless Outdoorsy and its parent company, affiliates, and related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, and employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.</p>



<h4>Limitation of liability</h4>



<p>Outdoorsy is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, malfunctions, delays, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (4) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, stolen, misdirected, or postage-due entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. This includes such failures that might result in more winners than planned are issued.</p>



<h4>Disputes</h4>



<p>This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and State of Texas without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that any and all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively and solely before a state or federal court located in Austin, Texas. Further, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.</p>



<h4>Privacy policy</h4>



<p>Information submitted with an online entry is subject to the Privacy Policy stated on Outdoorsy’s website.</p>

Can I track where renters take my vehicle?


<p>The amount on your 1099-K represents your tax liability as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).</p>



<p>The IRS requires Outdoorsy to base our 1099-K reporting on the gross reportable payments that renters make to our platform.&nbsp;</p>



<ul><li><strong>Included in 1099-K reporting: </strong>For each rental, the amount a renter pays for the vehicle (nightly rate multiplied by the number of nights), as well as any add-ons. This is <em>before</em> the owner service fee has been subtracted.</li><li><strong>Not included in 1099-K reporting:</strong> The amount renters pay directly to Outdoorsy for insurance, as a renter service fee, and as sales/transactional tax.</li></ul>



<h4><strong>Why include the owner service fee on 1099-Ks?</strong></h4>



<p>Because it doesn’t come out of the customer’s payment to Outdoorsy. It comes out of our payout to you.</p>



<p>Again, the IRS requires us to base our 1099-K reporting on renters’ payments and not owners’ payouts.&nbsp;</p>



<p>This means your 1099-K will differ from your total payouts for the year in your Outdoorsy account. The difference is the owner service fee. It’s included in 1099-K reporting. It’s not included in your total payouts for the year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>This could change in the future. We watch tax laws closely so we can help you comply. We’ll implement any changes that impact you and your tax liability.</p>



<h4><strong>Reminder about service fees</strong></h4>



<p>Both RV owners and renters pay a service fee. Renters pay a percentage of their rental cost. Owners, a percentage of their payout. This helps enable Outdoorsy to maintain a secure and updated platform.</p>


Where’d the taxable amount on my 1099-K come from?


<p>The federal government imposes tax reporting requirements on companies like Outdoorsy. This means we must notify the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of reportable payments that just about everyone receives from our platform.</p>



<p>Without your tax info, we can’t do this. But, that doesn’t mean you&#8217;re off the hook.</p>



<p>By law, if Outdoorsy doesn’t have your tax information, we must withhold at least 24% of your reportable payments as income tax. We remit this to the IRS for you.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>Where do I add my tax info?</strong></h4>



<p>You can add your tax information in the Account area of your <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/dashboard/account/payout" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dashboard</a>, on the Payout preferences or Tax docs tab.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>What if I don’t add my tax info?</strong></h4>



<p>Automatic withholding (24% of your reportable payments) begins January 1, 2022.</p>



<h4><strong>Can I stop automatic withholdings once they’ve begun?</strong></h4>



<p>Yes, once you provide your tax information, Outdoorsy will stop withholding on future payouts.</p>



<h4><strong>What happens to the money that Outdoorsy withholds?</strong></h4>



<p>We remit the money to the IRS in your name, and you may be able to treat the withholdings as tax payments made by you. However, you may face difficulties given that the payments we remit aren’t tied to your taxpayer identification number.&nbsp;</p>



<p>That’s why, even if withholding has started, you should provide your tax information to Outdoorsy.&nbsp;</p>

<h4><strong>I just submitted my tax information. Will Outdoorsy pay me back what it withheld?</strong></h4>



<p>It depends on when the withholding occurred and when you submitted your tax information. However, generally, Outdoorsy is prohibited from returning withheld amounts.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>Does Outdoorsy always notify the IRS of my reportable payments?</strong></h4>



<p>It depends on how much you receive in <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/whered-the-taxable-amount-on-my-1099-k-come-from" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reportable payments</a> each year:</p>



<h5><strong>$600 or more</strong></h5>



<p>Yes, we must notify the IRS of your reportable payments, starting in 2022. We’ll also prepare a 1099-K for you and send a copy to the IRS.&nbsp;</p>



<h5><strong>Less than $600</strong></h5>



<p>We may not report anything to the IRS. You should consult with your own tax advisers to determine whether you need to report any activity on your income tax return.</p>



<h4><strong>American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021</strong></h4>



<p>If you’ve been active on Outdoorsy and have never come across these tax requirements, it’s because some of them are new for 2022.</p>



<p>ARPA introduced the $600 threshold for tax reporting. This goes into effect on January 1, 2022.</p>
