<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One of the benefits of renting through Outdoorsy is the opportunity to review renters. This is valuable to ensure all owners have a good experience by properly assessing prospective booking requests. Here are a few key things to consider when reviewing a renter. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Owners and renters have 14 days after the rental period to submit a review. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">To access the review option, log in to your Outdoorsy dashboard and access the booking details for the associated reservation. The review option will be located at the top of the screen. From there, select a &#8220;star&#8221; rating for the other party, and add any additional comments regarding the overall experience. Once submitted, the star rating will display on the reviewed customers profile page.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>

<p><b>Responding to Renter Reviews</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Owners can also reply to renter reviews in order to address or clarify any issues noted within a review. As an owner, you have to option to respond </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">once</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> to each customer review. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To respond to a review, click on “edit profile” in your dashboard menu and select “My Reviews.” From “My Reviews,” simply reply to any reviews you have by selecting “Respond to Reviews.” Responding is not required. But if you choose to reply, address all issues that need clarification as you only have one reply and won’t be able to edit a reply once published.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>


How do I review a renter and respond to renter reviews?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Reach out to the renter the day before their return date to confirm the drop-off time and location. Have a copy of your Rental Checkout List and </span><a href="https://d1p9472jke9yu3.cloudfront.net/documents/O_RV_Return_Checklist_2016.pdf"><span style="font-weight: 400">RV Return Form</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, so you can make everything quick and painless. If there is damage or additional cleaning charges, note them on the return form and have your renter sign off so they’re aware of the charges they’ll incur.</span></p>


My RV&#8217;s due to be returned today. How do I prepare?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Security deposits come in handy sometimes, right? Make sure you clearly communicate any overages to the renter and have them sign-off on the </span><a href="https://d1p9472jke9yu3.cloudfront.net/documents/O_RV_Return_Checklist_2016.pdf"><span style="font-weight: 400">RV Return Form</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> to acknowledge these charges. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Log-in to your Outdoorsy dashboard, go to the reservation details and select “Manage Security Deposit”. Here, you’ll determine what portion of the deposit to return to the renter. For example, if you have a $1,000 security deposit and need to claim an additional $640 in charges and overages, you’ll input $360 to return to your renter. </span></p>


The renter has additional charges because of overages and cleaning. How do I handle these?

<p><span>Make sure you reach out to your Renter, the day before or day of the return date to confirm the drop off time is on track with what you agreed upon.<br />
Have a copy of your Rental Checkout List and a print out of the Rental Return Form, so once they arrive you can go through with your renter to make sure there are no issues. If there is damage, or additional cleaning charges, note them down on your Return form and have your renter sign off, this avoid confusion so they are aware of the charges that will be applied to either their credit card on file or their security deposit.</span></p>


My RV &#8216;s due to return today, what should I do?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is one for the Outdoorsy support team. You’ll need documentation of all the additional charges, including the signed RV Return Form. Go to your Outdoorsy dashboard and select “Manage Security Deposit” on the specific booking to claim the full security deposit. Then reach out to Outdoorsy support via phone, chat or email and let them know that you have additional charges that are over the security deposit. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Once they’ve determined the validity of the charges, they’ll charge the renter and the payment will post to your account.</span></p>
<p><b>Important:</b><br />
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Based on feedback from the Outdoorsy community, we recently updated the process for collecting additional fees and filing a claim.</span></p>
<ol>
<li><span style="font-weight: 400;"> The security deposit will auto-release if no claim is filed after 7 days. No action is needed by owner.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-weight: 400;"> If a claim is indicated within the 2-day time frame, the security deposit will be retained for 30 days instead of 7 days.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-weight: 400;"> If an owner wishes to release the deposit earlier, they can contact support@outdoorsy.com or 1-877-723-7232 and Outdoorsy will release the funds.</span></li>
</ol>


What if I need to charge more for overages beyond the amount of the security deposit?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">First off, congrats on the successful rental! If you have no additional charges, such as mileage or cleaning costs, and want to to release your renter’s full security deposit, just login to your Outdoorsy dashboard, open the reservation details and click &#8220;Manage Security Deposit&#8221;. You can release the full deposit, and the renter will be immediately refunded. If you don’t manually release the security deposit, Outdoorsy will do it for you after seven days as long as there isn’t a hnew in place.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">And don’t forget about reviews! They’re an asset to both yourself and your renter.</span></p>


Everything looks good. Do I need to do anything else?


<p>You can update your credit card in your account at anytime.</p>



<p>If you have a trip booked, be sure to update your card on your trip page. Otherwise, you can update it in your account settings.</p>



<h3><strong>Add a new card for a trip you already have booked</strong></h3>



<h5><em>If you already have a trip booked and you’d like any upcoming charges to go on a new card, use these instructions.&nbsp;</em></h5>



<p>Be sure to do this when logged in to the desktop or mobile website. This functionality is not yet available on our iPhone or Android apps — sorry about that.</p>



<p>From the My account dropdown in the upper right, select Upcoming trips. </p>



<p>Select the trip you need to update the card for. Then, scroll down to and expand the Payment &amp; cancellation section.</p>



<p>Under Payment details, select Change payment method. Then, open the dropdown and select Add payment method.</p>



<p>Once you’ve added your card, any upcoming payments for the trip will go on your new card. The card will also be saved to your account.&nbsp;</p>

If the booking value exceeds the US$1,000.00 credit, then the winner will be solely and completely responsible for covering the booking expenses beyond the prize amount. Such booking must purchase the maximum available insurance coverage offered through the Outdoorsy.com booking platform. Outdoorsy will not be responsible for covering additional trip costs on and/or off platform, including but not limited to, mileage overage fees, gas, campground reservations, airfare or any other costs and expenses. Users of such channels may vote on their favorite submission, and the submission with the most votes will be selected as a potential winner.&nbsp; In the event of a tie, Outdoorsy in its sole discretion may select the winner. The potential winner will be notified via email addresses provided on the submission. In order to receive the prize, the potential winner must return email communications with Outdoorsy’s team to set the delivery conditions of the prize. <h4>General terms</h4>



<p>Decisions made by Outdoorsy are final and binding in all matters, including interpretation of these Official Rules and awarding of the prize. Entrants assume all risk of loss, damage, destruction, delay, or misdirection of Contest materials submitted to Outdoorsy. Outdoorsy reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest, or any part of it, if any virus, bugs, other technical failures, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or any other causes beyond Outdoorsy’s control impair the administration, security, integrity, or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Outdoorsy in its sole discretion. <h4>Release and indemnification</h4>



<p>By participating in the Contest, you agree to release from liability and hold harmless Outdoorsy and its parent company, affiliates, and related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, and employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.</p>



<h4>Limitation of liability</h4>



<p>Outdoorsy is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, malfunctions, delays, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (4) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, stolen, misdirected, or postage-due entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. <h4>Disputes</h4>



<p>This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and State of Texas without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that any and all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively and solely before a state or federal court located in Austin, Texas. Further, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.</p>

Can I track where renters take my vehicle?


<p>The amount on your 1099-K represents your tax liability as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).</p>



<p>The IRS requires Outdoorsy to base our 1099-K reporting on the gross reportable payments that renters make to our platform.&nbsp;</p>



<ul><li><strong>Included in 1099-K reporting: </strong>For each rental, the amount a renter pays for the vehicle (nightly rate multiplied by the number of nights), as well as any add-ons. This is <em>before</em> the owner service fee has been subtracted.</li><li><strong>Not included in 1099-K reporting:</strong> The amount renters pay directly to Outdoorsy for insurance, as a renter service fee, and as sales/transactional tax.</li></ul>



<h4><strong>Why include the owner service fee on 1099-Ks?</strong></h4>



<p>Because it doesn’t come out of the customer’s payment to Outdoorsy. It comes out of our payout to you.</p>



<p>Again, the IRS requires us to base our 1099-K reporting on renters’ payments and not owners’ payouts.&nbsp;</p>



<p>This means your 1099-K will differ from your total payouts for the year in your Outdoorsy account. The difference is the owner service fee. It’s included in 1099-K reporting. It’s not included in your total payouts for the year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>This could change in the future. We watch tax laws closely so we can help you comply. We’ll implement any changes that impact you and your tax liability.</p>



<h4><strong>Reminder about service fees</strong></h4>



<p>Both RV owners and renters pay a service fee. Renters pay a percentage of their rental cost. Owners, a percentage of their payout. This helps enable Outdoorsy to maintain a secure and updated platform.</p>


Where’d the taxable amount on my 1099-K come from?


<p>The federal government imposes tax reporting requirements on companies like Outdoorsy. This means we must notify the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of reportable payments that just about everyone receives from our platform.</p>



<p>Without your tax info, we can’t do this. But, that doesn’t mean you&#8217;re off the hook.</p>



<p>By law, if Outdoorsy doesn’t have your tax information, we must withhold at least 24% of your reportable payments as income tax. We remit this to the IRS for you.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>Where do I add my tax info?</strong></h4>



<p>You can add your tax information in the Account area of your <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/dashboard/account/payout" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dashboard</a>, on the Payout preferences or Tax docs tab.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>What if I don’t add my tax info?</strong></h4>



<p>Automatic withholding (24% of your reportable payments) begins January 1, 2022.</p>



<h4><strong>Can I stop automatic withholdings once they’ve begun?</strong></h4>



<p>Yes, once you provide your tax information, Outdoorsy will stop withholding on future payouts.</p>



<h4><strong>What happens to the money that Outdoorsy withholds?</strong></h4>



<p>We remit the money to the IRS in your name, and you may be able to treat the withholdings as tax payments made by you. However, you may face difficulties given that the payments we remit aren’t tied to your taxpayer identification number.&nbsp;</p>



<p>That’s why, even if withholding has started, you should provide your tax information to Outdoorsy.&nbsp;</p>



<p>You should consult with your tax professional for more information.</p>



<h4><strong>I just submitted my tax information. Will Outdoorsy pay me back what it withheld?</strong></h4>



<p>It depends on when the withholding occurred and when you submitted your tax information. However, generally, Outdoorsy is prohibited from returning withheld amounts.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>Does Outdoorsy always notify the IRS of my reportable payments?</strong></h4>



<p>It depends on how much you receive in <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/whered-the-taxable-amount-on-my-1099-k-come-from" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reportable payments</a> each year:</p>



<h5><strong>$600 or more</strong></h5>



<p>Yes, we must notify the IRS of your reportable payments, starting in 2022. We’ll also prepare a 1099-K for you and send a copy to the IRS.&nbsp;</p>



<h5><strong>Less than $600</strong></h5>



<p>We may not report anything to the IRS. You should consult with your own tax advisers to determine whether you need to report any activity on your income tax return.</p>



<h4><strong>American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021</strong></h4>



<p>If you’ve been active on Outdoorsy and have never come across these tax requirements, it’s because some of them are new for 2022.</p>



<p>ARPA introduced the $600 threshold for tax reporting. This goes into effect on January 1, 2022.</p>
