We can’t provide these benefits if your reservation isn’t booked and paid for directly through Outdoorsy.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Paying or communicating outside of Outdoorsy also makes it harder for us to protect your information and puts you at greater risk of fraud and other security issues.</span></p>

Why should I pay and communicate through Outdoorsy directly?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Aside from the automatic DMV background check, social media is a good way to get a feel for the renter. Ask if they’d like to share their profiles, and chat with them about their plans and experience so you can gauge how good of a fit they are for your RV.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Outdoorsy is committed to creating a safe environment for its owners and renters, so we encourage members to follow their instincts and use the same level of caution they would when buying/selling on any marketplace (e.g. Craigslist, eBay).</span></p>


How should I decide whether to accept a reservation request?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Your profile is a great way for others to learn more about you before making any rental reservations. The more information you provide, the more comfortable and inspired renters will be to book with you. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">We require all owners to have a profile photo and all renters to upload one before making a reservation.</span></p>

<li style="font-weight: 400">A description of at least 50 words highlighting why you decided to join the Outdoorsy community, and any interests, hobbies or facts you’d like to mention</li>

Why do I need to have an Outdoorsy profile or profile photo?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">All Outdoorsy renters have to pass a DMV check before they can book anything on the platform. Running this verification gives us information about the renter’s driving history and helps us decide whether they should be allowed to rent your rig. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Things that might cause a person to fail the test include (1) more than two tickets in the past year for going 20 mph over the speed limit (2) a suspended license or (3) a DUI.</span></p>


What is the DMV License check?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Outdoorsy works hard to ensure that all members are safe, insured, and qualified to drive. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">To provide insurance, we have to confirm identity and driving history. We run DMV background checks across the 50 U.S. states, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as over 100 international countries for international renters. Anyone who wants to be insured, list or rent a vehicle on Outdoorsy has to complete a DMV background check.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">For domestic requests, the background check takes only a few minutes. For international requests, it takes between 24 and 36 hours.</span></p>
<p><b>DOMESTIC</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Outdoorsy has established specific criteria in the DMV databases to report a &#8220;pass&#8221; or &#8220;fail&#8221; for every member checked. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">A “fail” means you don’t qualify for insurance through Outdoorsy. Reasons for failure include:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">A DUI or a suspended license </span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Any user who has had more than two speeding citations (over 20 mph above the legal speed limit) over the last 12 months</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">A “pass” means:</span></p>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">You are covered by our $1M liability policy and are free to rent vehicles on Outdoorsy </span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">DMV checks are re-administered every year to ensure up-to-date records for our underwriter and to best protect our vehicle owners. Driving histories are kept strictly confidential. RV owners are only informed of a “pass” or “fail”.</span></p>
<p><b>INTERNATIONAL</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">International renters must</span> <span style="font-weight: 400">provide a valid passport number and an International Driver’s Permit, commonly known as an IDP. In most European countries, an IDP is easy to obtain in less than a day. Contact your local motor vehicle office rules for instructions.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">OFAC Compliance: In some locales, Outdoorsy must comply with The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. This agency administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions based on U.S. foreign policy and national security goals against targeted foreign countries and regimes, terrorists, international narcotics traffickers, those engaged in activities related to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and other threats to the national security, foreign policy or economy of the United States. OFAC acts under Presidential national emergency powers, as well as authority granted by specific legislation, to impose controls on transactions and freeze assets under U.S. jurisdiction. Outdoorsy will not allow listers or renters on the site who are from countries where sanctions are in place. Outdoorsy cooperates with The United Nations and other international mandates, and works in close cooperation with allied governments.</span></p>


What is the DMV check?

<p>If you have a trip booked, be sure to update your card on your trip page. Otherwise, you can update it in your account settings.</p>



<h3><strong>Add a new card for a trip you already have booked</strong></h3>



<h5><em>If you already have a trip booked and you’d like any upcoming charges to go on a new card, use these instructions.&nbsp;</em></h5>



<p>Be sure to do this when logged in to the desktop or mobile website. This functionality is not yet available on our iPhone or Android apps — sorry about that.</p>



<p>From the My account dropdown in the upper right, select Upcoming trips. </p>



<p>Select the trip you need to update the card for. Then, scroll down to and expand the Payment &amp; cancellation section.</p>



<p>Under Payment details, select Change payment method. Then, open the dropdown and select Add payment method.</p>



<p>Once you’ve added your card, any upcoming payments for the trip will go on your new card. The card will also be saved to your account.&nbsp;</p>

A winner making a booking on the Outdoorsy.com platform agrees that additional criteria may be imposed by the listed vehicle’s owner. If the booking value exceeds the US$1,000.00 credit, then the winner will be solely and completely responsible for covering the booking expenses beyond the prize amount. Such booking must purchase the maximum available insurance coverage offered through the Outdoorsy.com booking platform. Outdoorsy will not be responsible for covering additional trip costs on and/or off platform, including but not limited to, mileage overage fees, gas, campground reservations, airfare or any other costs and expenses. The potential winner will be notified via email addresses provided on the submission. In order to receive the prize, the potential winner must return email communications with Outdoorsy’s team to set the delivery conditions of the prize. If the potential winner fails to give respond to the email within 14 days or is found to be, in Outdoorsy’s sole discretion, ineligible or in violation of these Official Rules, such potential winner and his/her entry will be disqualified, and an alternate winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries.&nbsp; Outdoorsy may request paperwork that the potential winner will be required to complete in order to be awarded the prize (including, but not limited to, a publicity release, tax documentation, drivers license information, evidence of insurability, and/or liability release). <h4>General terms</h4>



<p>Decisions made by Outdoorsy are final and binding in all matters, including interpretation of these Official Rules and awarding of the prize. Entrants assume all risk of loss, damage, destruction, delay, or misdirection of Contest materials submitted to Outdoorsy. Outdoorsy reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest, or any part of it, if any virus, bugs, other technical failures, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or any other causes beyond Outdoorsy’s control impair the administration, security, integrity, or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Outdoorsy in its sole discretion. <h4>Release and indemnification</h4>



<p>By participating in the Contest, you agree to release from liability and hold harmless Outdoorsy and its parent company, affiliates, and related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, and employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.</p>



<h4>Limitation of liability</h4>



<p>Outdoorsy is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, malfunctions, delays, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (4) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, stolen, misdirected, or postage-due entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. <h4>Disputes</h4>



<p>This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and State of Texas without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that any and all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively and solely before a state or federal court located in Austin, Texas. Further, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.</p>

Can I track where renters take my vehicle?


<p>The amount on your 1099-K represents your tax liability as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).</p>



<p>The IRS requires Outdoorsy to base our 1099-K reporting on the gross reportable payments that renters make to our platform.&nbsp;</p>



<ul><li><strong>Included in 1099-K reporting: </strong>For each rental, the amount a renter pays for the vehicle (nightly rate multiplied by the number of nights), as well as any add-ons. This is <em>before</em> the owner service fee has been subtracted.</li><li><strong>Not included in 1099-K reporting:</strong> The amount renters pay directly to Outdoorsy for insurance, as a renter service fee, and as sales/transactional tax.</li></ul>



<h4><strong>Why include the owner service fee on 1099-Ks?</strong></h4>



<p>Because it doesn’t come out of the customer’s payment to Outdoorsy. It comes out of our payout to you.</p>



<p>Again, the IRS requires us to base our 1099-K reporting on renters’ payments and not owners’ payouts.&nbsp;</p>



<p>This means your 1099-K will differ from your total payouts for the year in your Outdoorsy account. The difference is the owner service fee. It’s included in 1099-K reporting. It’s not included in your total payouts for the year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>This could change in the future. We watch tax laws closely so we can help you comply. We’ll implement any changes that impact you and your tax liability.</p>



<h4><strong>Reminder about service fees</strong></h4>



<p>Both RV owners and renters pay a service fee. Renters pay a percentage of their rental cost. Owners, a percentage of their payout. This helps enable Outdoorsy to maintain a secure and updated platform.</p>


Where’d the taxable amount on my 1099-K come from?


<p>The federal government imposes tax reporting requirements on companies like Outdoorsy. This means we must notify the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of reportable payments that just about everyone receives from our platform.</p>



<p>Without your tax info, we can’t do this. But, that doesn’t mean you&#8217;re off the hook.</p>



<p>By law, if Outdoorsy doesn’t have your tax information, we must withhold at least 24% of your reportable payments as income tax. We remit this to the IRS for you.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>Where do I add my tax info?</strong></h4>



<p>You can add your tax information in the Account area of your <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/dashboard/account/payout" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dashboard</a>, on the Payout preferences or Tax docs tab.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>What if I don’t add my tax info?</strong></h4>



<p>Automatic withholding (24% of your reportable payments) begins January 1, 2022.</p>



<h4><strong>Can I stop automatic withholdings once they’ve begun?</strong></h4>



<p>Yes, once you provide your tax information, Outdoorsy will stop withholding on future payouts.</p>



<h4><strong>What happens to the money that Outdoorsy withholds?</strong></h4>



<p>We remit the money to the IRS in your name, and you may be able to treat the withholdings as tax payments made by you. However, you may face difficulties given that the payments we remit aren’t tied to your taxpayer identification number.&nbsp;</p>



<p>That’s why, even if withholding has started, you should provide your tax information to Outdoorsy.&nbsp;</p>



<p>You should consult with your tax professional for more information.</p>



<h4><strong>I just submitted my tax information. Will Outdoorsy pay me back what it withheld?</strong></h4>



<p>It depends on when the withholding occurred and when you submitted your tax information. However, generally, Outdoorsy is prohibited from returning withheld amounts.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>Does Outdoorsy always notify the IRS of my reportable payments?</strong></h4>



<p>It depends on how much you receive in <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/whered-the-taxable-amount-on-my-1099-k-come-from" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reportable payments</a> each year:</p>



<h5><strong>$600 or more</strong></h5>



<p>Yes, we must notify the IRS of your reportable payments, starting in 2022. We’ll also prepare a 1099-K for you and send a copy to the IRS.&nbsp;</p>



<h5><strong>Less than $600</strong></h5>



<p>We may not report anything to the IRS. You should consult with your own tax advisers to determine whether you need to report any activity on your income tax return.</p>



<h4><strong>American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021</strong></h4>



<p>If you’ve been active on Outdoorsy and have never come across these tax requirements, it’s because some of them are new for 2022.</p>



<p>ARPA introduced the $600 threshold for tax reporting. This goes into effect on January 1, 2022.</p>
