How should I decide whether to accept a reservation request?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Outdoorsy works hard to ensure that all members are safe, insured and qualified to drive.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">To provide insurance, we have to confirm a user’s identity as well as the risk involved in insuring. This is a two-part process, one that happens automatically during booking and another that involves requirements completed by the renter. </span></p>
<p><strong>OUTDOORSY RISK ASSESSMENT</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">At the time the booking is sealed and paid, we run a quick proprietary analysis of the overall booking. We consider hundreds of factors, big and small, when evaluating potential insurance coverage through Outdoorsy. This includes, but is not limited to: the location, length of booking, vehicle type and value, length of time before departure, and identity check variables such as the name on the card used for payment, IP address, and other information secured at booking. </span></p>
<p><strong>PERSONA IDENTITY CHECK</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Persona provides a secure platform that collects, verifies and analyzes the identity of an individual, along with confirming the validity of their driver’s license. Upon securing a booking, you will be prompted to upload 3 selfie-style pictures (looking left, looking face on, and looking right) as well as a picture of your valid US driver’s license. </span></p>
<p><strong>CANADA &amp; INTERNATIONAL</strong></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Canadians and international renters will complete the same qualifications above. We do not accept passports, state ID cards, country ID cards, government ID cards, or any other form of ID card. You must provide a valid, current driver’s license in your home country. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">OFAC Compliance: In some locales, Outdoorsy must comply with The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. This agency administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions based on U.S. foreign policy and national security goals against targeted foreign countries and regimes, terrorists, international narcotics traffickers, those engaged in activities related to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and other threats to the national security, foreign policy or economy of the United States. OFAC acts under Presidential national emergency powers, as well as authority granted by specific legislation, to impose controls on transactions and freeze assets under U.S. jurisdiction. Outdoorsy will not allow listers or renters on the site who are from countries where sanctions are in place. Outdoorsy cooperates with The United Nations and other international mandates, and works in close cooperation with allied governments.</span></p>

How does Outdoorsy verify drivers?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">There isn’t a limit to the number of drivers, but each driver must pass our driver verification process, and a Protection Package must be purchased for the renter to be covered by Outdoorsy’s insurance policy. How many people are allowed to drive the vehicle?

<p><span>A DMV check is required by renters in order to drive an RV. Before booking an RV, a renter will be prompted to upload a photo of their drivers license. That renter can then be approved as a verified driver within minutes. If the renter is not approved, that booking will not qualify for Outdoorsy&#8217;s liability insurance coverage.</span></p>


DMV Check

<p>Yes! Not only that, but international travelers are covered under our insurance program. Many of our international travelers love this about Outdoorsy since it allows them to rent more unique rentals for their adventure instead of the typical cookie-cutter RV rental companies. All qualified renters, domestic and international, are covered for rentals in the U.S. and Canada. Mexico is not covered.</p>
<p>To qualify for coverage, all international renters are required to complete a Driver check through Outdoorsy, for which an international driver’s permit (IDP) and a valid passport are required. In most European countries an IDP can be obtained in less than a day.</p>
<p>Outdoorsy’s turn-around time for a Driver check can range from one day to a couple of days. After requesting a booking, we will communicate the status of the verification process and driving record check to both the renter and owner.</p>
<p>There is a foreign transaction fee of 3% added to both the rental total and security deposit when using a payment card issued outside of the country in which you&#8217;re renting.</p>
<p>We’re not allowed by U.S. government regulations to insure any renter from a country where the U.S. government precludes business relationships. These countries include North Korea, Syria and any country that sponsors or supports terrorism or terrorist activities.</p>

Are international travelers allowed to rent on Outdoorsy?

<p>If you have a trip booked, be sure to update your card on your trip page. Otherwise, you can update it in your account settings.</p>

<p>Be sure to do this when logged in to the desktop or mobile website. This functionality is not yet available on our iPhone or Android apps — sorry about that.</p>



<p>From the My account dropdown in the upper right, select Upcoming trips. </p>



<p>Select the trip you need to update the card for. Then, scroll down to and expand the Payment &amp; cancellation section.</p>



<p>Under Payment details, select Change payment method. Then, open the dropdown and select Add payment method.</p>



<p>Once you’ve added your card, any upcoming payments for the trip will go on your new card. The card will also be saved to your account.&nbsp;</p>

If the booking value exceeds the US$1,000.00 credit, then the winner will be solely and completely responsible for covering the booking expenses beyond the prize amount. Such booking must purchase the maximum available insurance coverage offered through the Outdoorsy.com booking platform. Outdoorsy will not be responsible for covering additional trip costs on and/or off platform, including but not limited to, mileage overage fees, gas, campground reservations, airfare or any other costs and expenses. <h4>General terms</h4>



<p>Decisions made by Outdoorsy are final and binding in all matters, including interpretation of these Official Rules and awarding of the prize. Entrants assume all risk of loss, damage, destruction, delay, or misdirection of Contest materials submitted to Outdoorsy. <p>By participating in the Contest, you agree to release from liability and hold harmless Outdoorsy and its parent company, affiliates, and related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, and employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.</p>



<h4>Limitation of liability</h4>



<p>Outdoorsy is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, malfunctions, delays, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (4) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, stolen, misdirected, or postage-due entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. <h4>Disputes</h4>



<p>This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and State of Texas without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that any and all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively and solely before a state or federal court located in Austin, Texas. Further, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.</p>



<h4>Privacy policy</h4>

Can I track where renters take my vehicle?


<p>The amount on your 1099-K represents your tax liability as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).</p>



<p>The IRS requires Outdoorsy to base our 1099-K reporting on the gross reportable payments that renters make to our platform.&nbsp;</p>



<ul><li><strong>Included in 1099-K reporting: </strong>For each rental, the amount a renter pays for the vehicle (nightly rate multiplied by the number of nights), as well as any add-ons. This is <em>before</em> the owner service fee has been subtracted.</li><li><strong>Not included in 1099-K reporting:</strong> The amount renters pay directly to Outdoorsy for insurance, as a renter service fee, and as sales/transactional tax.</li></ul>



<h4><strong>Why include the owner service fee on 1099-Ks?</strong></h4>



<p>Because it doesn’t come out of the customer’s payment to Outdoorsy. It comes out of our payout to you.</p>



<p>Again, the IRS requires us to base our 1099-K reporting on renters’ payments and not owners’ payouts.&nbsp;</p>



<p>This means your 1099-K will differ from your total payouts for the year in your Outdoorsy account. The difference is the owner service fee. It’s included in 1099-K reporting. It’s not included in your total payouts for the year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>This could change in the future. We watch tax laws closely so we can help you comply. We’ll implement any changes that impact you and your tax liability.</p>



<h4><strong>Reminder about service fees</strong></h4>



<p>Both RV owners and renters pay a service fee. Renters pay a percentage of their rental cost. Owners, a percentage of their payout. This helps enable Outdoorsy to maintain a secure and updated platform.</p>


Where’d the taxable amount on my 1099-K come from?


<p>The federal government imposes tax reporting requirements on companies like Outdoorsy. This means we must notify the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of reportable payments that just about everyone receives from our platform.</p>



<p>Without your tax info, we can’t do this. But, that doesn’t mean you&#8217;re off the hook.</p>



<p>By law, if Outdoorsy doesn’t have your tax information, we must withhold at least 24% of your reportable payments as income tax. We remit this to the IRS for you.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>Where do I add my tax info?</strong></h4>



<p>You can add your tax information in the Account area of your <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/dashboard/account/payout" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dashboard</a>, on the Payout preferences or Tax docs tab.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>What if I don’t add my tax info?</strong></h4>



<p>Automatic withholding (24% of your reportable payments) begins January 1, 2022.</p>



<h4><strong>Can I stop automatic withholdings once they’ve begun?</strong></h4>



<p>Yes, once you provide your tax information, Outdoorsy will stop withholding on future payouts.</p>



<h4><strong>What happens to the money that Outdoorsy withholds?</strong></h4>



<p>We remit the money to the IRS in your name, and you may be able to treat the withholdings as tax payments made by you. However, you may face difficulties given that the payments we remit aren’t tied to your taxpayer identification number.&nbsp;</p>



<p>That’s why, even if withholding has started, you should provide your tax information to Outdoorsy.&nbsp;</p>



<p>You should consult with your tax professional for more information.</p>



<h4><strong>I just submitted my tax information. Will Outdoorsy pay me back what it withheld?</strong></h4>



<p>It depends on when the withholding occurred and when you submitted your tax information. However, generally, Outdoorsy is prohibited from returning withheld amounts.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>Does Outdoorsy always notify the IRS of my reportable payments?</strong></h4>



<p>It depends on how much you receive in <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/whered-the-taxable-amount-on-my-1099-k-come-from" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reportable payments</a> each year:</p>



<h5><strong>$600 or more</strong></h5>



<p>Yes, we must notify the IRS of your reportable payments, starting in 2022. We’ll also prepare a 1099-K for you and send a copy to the IRS.&nbsp;</p>



<h5><strong>Less than $600</strong></h5>



<p>We may not report anything to the IRS. You should consult with your own tax advisers to determine whether you need to report any activity on your income tax return.</p>



<h4><strong>American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021</strong></h4>



<p>If you’ve been active on Outdoorsy and have never come across these tax requirements, it’s because some of them are new for 2022.</p>



<p>ARPA introduced the $600 threshold for tax reporting. This goes into effect on January 1, 2022.</p>
