The security deposit covers any damage caused by the renter or renter&#8217;s party which is not covered by the Outdoorsy insurance program.
This includes but is not limited to: 
&gt; Cleaning or penalty fees as stated by the owner prior to rental (ie. dump fee, re-fueling costs or excessive cleaning time/cost) 
&gt; Interior damage, such as broken cabinets or interior scratches 
&gt; Awning damage if awning use was not authorized by the owner in the rental contract. 
&gt; Damage due to illegal activities of any kind 
&gt; Missing items that were provided at the beginning of the rental 
&gt; Towing and repairs, during the rental that are not covered by insurance or roadside assistance 
&gt; Excessive kilometers over the agreed upon KMs included in the rental 
&gt; Excessive generator hours over the agreed upon hourly usage
Important: 
Based on feedback from the Outdoorsy community, we recently updated the process for collecting additional fees and filing a claim.

<li> The security deposit will auto-release if no claim is filed after 7 days. No action is needed by owner.</li>
<li> If a claim is indicated within the 2-day time frame, the security deposit will be retained for 30 days instead of 7 days.</li>
<li> If an owner wishes to release the deposit earlier, they can contact support@outdoorsy.com or 1-877-723-7232 and Outdoorsy will release the funds.</li>

What does the security deposit cover?

An owner’s cancellation policy determines the amount of the renter’s reservation deposit. Flexible and Moderate cancellation policies require a 25% deposit. Strict cancellation policies require a 50% deposit. The reservation deposit is charged to all bookings made 14 or more days in advance.
If a booking is less than 14 days away, the reservation is charged in full. If a booking is more than 14 days away, renters have the option to pay the reservation deposit in two installments—the first being a partial reservation deposit, the second a reservation remainder to be paid 14 days before the booking start date.

How much do I need to pay to reserve an RV on Outdoorsy?

We’re a company of passionate people unlocking the outdoors. When you want to rent an RV with us, you won’t be renting a bland RV from some fleet. Rather, you’ll be renting a wonderful and unique rig from a person who loves the outdoor lifestyle. 
How do I book a vehicle?
The rental process is intuitive and works like many car and hotel reservation sites. Start by visiting <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">https://www.outdoorsy.com</a> and entering the desired location and dates.
Browse your RV options on the results page, and use the filters to refine your search. You can view any listing to see available add-ons, amenities, photos and vehicle descriptions. When you’re ready to reserve, make sure you’ve created an account on Outdoorsy, then click on “Request Booking” and tell the owner a little bit about yourself and your plans. We suggest submitting 1 or 2 more requests in case your first choice isn’t available.
While waiting for a response, be sure to upload your driver’s license for the driver verification process and complete your profile. Once you receive a confirmation, you’ll need to log back into Outdoorsy to finalize and pay the reservation deposit. This is a good time to look over all the fine print (i.e. restrictions, cancellation policies, etc.) so there are no surprises.
Stay in touch with the owner leading up to your departure, since they’ll likely be a great resource for RV info and trip suggestions.
How do I know the RV owners on your site are genuine? 
Our community thrives on transparency, honesty, and accountability. That’s why we try to collect as many ratings and reviews as possible to give renters insight into each owner. By reading all reviews for the owner you want to rent from and asking that owner detailed questions about your trip, you’ll ensure your rental is exactly what you expect. 

At what point can I see the RV owner’s address?
You’ll see the full address for RV pickup when the reservation is confirmed on our platform. Until then, only the city/state are displayed. 
What if there’s an issue with the rental?
Our owners are great folks who do all they can to make sure the pictures and descriptions they have for their RV are 100% accurate. As a renter, the RV you pick up should be exactly what you expected based on the online listing.
In the rare event that you find something amiss when you pick up your RV rental, we do everything we can to help you out. 
For example, if the RV condition doesn’t match the description (including cleanliness), if the RV is not in a safe and roadworthy condition, or if the RV or any of its components are not working as expected at any time during your trip, please reach out to Outdoorsy Customer Support at 877.723.7232
Along with notifying us, please take photos and/or videos of any visible defects. 
NOTE: Any refund requests or damage disputes submitted after the trip has concluded may be denied if Outdoorsy and the owner were not given notice of the issue(s) at the time they were discovered and if the renter did not properly document the issue.
How many people are allowed to drive the vehicle?
There isn’t a limit to the number of drivers, but each driver must pass our <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/what-is-a-dmv-check-and-do-i-have-to-do-one" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">driver verification process</a>, and a <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/outdoorsys-protection-packages" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Protection Package</a> must be purchased for the renter to be covered by Outdoorsy’s insurance policy. 
The primary renter who registers and agrees to the <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/outdoorsy-terms-and-conditions" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Outdoorsy Terms and Conditions</a> is ultimately responsible for any additional drivers insured through Outdoorsy’s policy as well.
What if I want to extend my reservation?
If anything changes with your original trip dates, either prior to or during the trip itself, contact the owner immediately to get their approval.
If the owner approves of the date changes, you can click “suggest new dates” in your renter Dashboard and send them over to the owner to approve. The owner can also do this in their Dashboard.
NOTE: The date change is not confirmed until the date change is suggested and approved on your renter dashboard. Once this occurs, you will see the revised dates show up on the booking. 
If you are in the middle of a booking when changes need to be made, contact both the owner and Outdoorsy’s support team at support@outdoorsy.com.
What if I need to cancel my reservation?
If you need to cancel your reservation, notify the RV owner and familiarize yourself with their cancellation policy. Outdoorsy upholds all owner cancellation policies as set on their listings.

How does Outdoorsy work if I want to rent an RV?

You can drive in the Canada if: 
* You hnew a valid drivers license or driving permit from another country 
* Your overseas license or driver permit is current and valid, 
* You&#8217;ve not received a disqualification or suspension in the Canada 
* You have entered Canada less than 6 months ago 
* Your overseas license is in English (if it&#8217;s not, you must have an accurate translation) 
* If you have an accurate translation you also need to be able to present your overseas license at pick up 
* You&#8217;ve not been granted a Canadian driver license, and 
* You have not renewed, requalified or reinstated a Canadian driver license since you last entered the Canada
You cannot drive in the Canada if: 
* Your overseas license has expired or is suspended, revoked or disqualified in the country of issue; or 
* You have had a 28 day suspension, been served a suspension for demerit points or been disqualified by the courts in the Canada. 
* If you cannot present your overseas license together with the accurate translation

Can I rent and drive with a non-Canadian license?

You can update your credit card in your account at anytime.



If you have a trip booked, be sure to update your card on your trip page. Otherwise, you can update it in your account settings.



<h3>Add a new card for a trip you already have booked</h3>



<h5>If you already have a trip booked and you’d like any upcoming charges to go on a new card, use these instructions.&nbsp;</h5>



Be sure to do this when logged in to the desktop or mobile website. This functionality is not yet available on our iPhone or Android apps — sorry about that.



From the My account dropdown in the upper right, select Upcoming trips. 



Select the trip you need to update the card for. Then, scroll down to and expand the Payment &amp; cancellation section.



Under Payment details, select Change payment method. Then, open the dropdown and select Add payment method.



Once you’ve added your card, any upcoming payments for the trip will go on your new card. The card will also be saved to your account.&nbsp;

A winner making a booking on the Outdoorsy.com platform agrees that additional criteria may be imposed by the listed vehicle’s owner. If the booking value exceeds the US$1,000.00 credit, then the winner will be solely and completely responsible for covering the booking expenses beyond the prize amount. Such booking must purchase the maximum available insurance coverage offered through the Outdoorsy.com booking platform. Outdoorsy will not be responsible for covering additional trip costs on and/or off platform, including but not limited to, mileage overage fees, gas, campground reservations, airfare or any other costs and expenses. <h3>Winner selection and notification</h3>



As described in “How to Enter,” three potential winners will be selected each calendar week during the Contest Period. The three potential winners’ submissions will be published and displayed (anonymously) on multiple channels, including but not limited to paid social, other organic communities, and partner channels. Users of such channels may vote on their favorite submission, and the submission with the most votes will be selected as a potential winner.&nbsp; In the event of a tie, Outdoorsy in its sole discretion may select the winner. The potential winner will be notified via email addresses provided on the submission. In order to receive the prize, the potential winner must return email communications with Outdoorsy’s team to set the delivery conditions of the prize. <h4>General terms</h4>



Decisions made by Outdoorsy are final and binding in all matters, including interpretation of these Official Rules and awarding of the prize. Entrants assume all risk of loss, damage, destruction, delay, or misdirection of Contest materials submitted to Outdoorsy. By participating in the Contest, you agree to release from liability and hold harmless Outdoorsy and its parent company, affiliates, and related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, and employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.



<h4>Limitation of liability</h4>



Outdoorsy is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, malfunctions, delays, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (4) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, stolen, misdirected, or postage-due entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. This includes such failures that might result in more winners than planned are issued.



<h4>Disputes</h4>



This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and State of Texas without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that any and all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively and solely before a state or federal court located in Austin, Texas. Further, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.



<h4>Privacy policy</h4>



Information submitted with an online entry is subject to the Privacy Policy stated on Outdoorsy’s website.

To obtain a copy of the winner’s name or a copy of these Official Rules, mail your request along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Outdoorsy. Residents of Vermont may omit return postage. Requests must be received during the Contest Period.

Can I track where renters take my vehicle?

The amount on your 1099-K represents your tax liability as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).



The IRS requires Outdoorsy to base our 1099-K reporting on the gross reportable payments that renters make to our platform.&nbsp;



<ul><li>Included in 1099-K reporting: For each rental, the amount a renter pays for the vehicle (nightly rate multiplied by the number of nights), as well as any add-ons. This is before the owner service fee has been subtracted.</li><li>Not included in 1099-K reporting: The amount renters pay directly to Outdoorsy for insurance, as a renter service fee, and as sales/transactional tax.</li></ul>



<h4>Why include the owner service fee on 1099-Ks?</h4>



Because it doesn’t come out of the customer’s payment to Outdoorsy. It comes out of our payout to you.



Again, the IRS requires us to base our 1099-K reporting on renters’ payments and not owners’ payouts.&nbsp;



This means your 1099-K will differ from your total payouts for the year in your Outdoorsy account. The difference is the owner service fee. It’s included in 1099-K reporting. It’s not included in your total payouts for the year.&nbsp;



This could change in the future. We watch tax laws closely so we can help you comply. We’ll implement any changes that impact you and your tax liability.



<h4>Reminder about service fees</h4>



Both RV owners and renters pay a service fee. Renters pay a percentage of their rental cost. Owners, a percentage of their payout. This helps enable Outdoorsy to maintain a secure and updated platform.

Where’d the taxable amount on my 1099-K come from?

The federal government imposes tax reporting requirements on companies like Outdoorsy. This means we must notify the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of reportable payments that just about everyone receives from our platform.



Without your tax info, we can’t do this. But, that doesn’t mean you&#8217;re off the hook.



By law, if Outdoorsy doesn’t have your tax information, we must withhold at least 24% of your reportable payments as income tax. We remit this to the IRS for you.&nbsp;



<h4>Where do I add my tax info?</h4>



You can add your tax information in the Account area of your <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/dashboard/account/payout" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dashboard</a>, on the Payout preferences or Tax docs tab.&nbsp;



<h4>What if I don’t add my tax info?</h4>



Automatic withholding (24% of your reportable payments) begins January 1, 2022.



<h4>Can I stop automatic withholdings once they’ve begun?</h4>



Yes, once you provide your tax information, Outdoorsy will stop withholding on future payouts.



<h4>What happens to the money that Outdoorsy withholds?</h4>



We remit the money to the IRS in your name, and you may be able to treat the withholdings as tax payments made by you. However, you may face difficulties given that the payments we remit aren’t tied to your taxpayer identification number.&nbsp;



That’s why, even if withholding has started, you should provide your tax information to Outdoorsy.&nbsp;



You should consult with your tax professional for more information.



<h4>I just submitted my tax information. Will Outdoorsy pay me back what it withheld?</h4>



It depends on when the withholding occurred and when you submitted your tax information. However, generally, Outdoorsy is prohibited from returning withheld amounts.&nbsp;



<h4>Does Outdoorsy always notify the IRS of my reportable payments?</h4>



It depends on how much you receive in <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/whered-the-taxable-amount-on-my-1099-k-come-from" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reportable payments</a> each year:



<h5>$600 or more</h5>



Yes, we must notify the IRS of your reportable payments, starting in 2022. We’ll also prepare a 1099-K for you and send a copy to the IRS.&nbsp;



<h5>Less than $600</h5>



We may not report anything to the IRS. You should consult with your own tax advisers to determine whether you need to report any activity on your income tax return.



<h4>American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021</h4>



If you’ve been active on Outdoorsy and have never come across these tax requirements, it’s because some of them are new for 2022.



ARPA introduced the $600 threshold for tax reporting. This goes into effect on January 1, 2022.
