<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Getting your first booking request is exciting but it can also be a little intimidating. The idea of renting your rig and making some extra cash is fun but now you’ve actually got to lend your rig out! Don’t worry, you’re not the only one who feels this way. While letting go of your rig for the first time might be nerve wracking, it gets easier and easier when you know there are renters enjoying it as much as you do. You are now a part of families making memories that will last them a lifetime!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Here is what to do once you get that first booking request. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Look over the request and get a feel for who the renters are! Send them a message through the platform to get to know them and ask about their trip. If it feels like a good fit, it’s time to accept the request and prepare your RV.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">This means clean and clean some more! (Because you want a good rating, right?). Then check the tires, signals, fluids, mileage and anything else that might need changing, fixing or topping up. You want your renters to feel comfortable, safe and right at home while using your vehicle. Make sure to review the <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/what-makes-a-successful-key-exchange" target="_blank" rel="noopener">key exchange</a> process so you don&#8217;t miss any steps! Make sure all paperwork is signed by the renter (RV contract, RV departure and return forms) and pre-trip and return photos are taken.</span></p>

<p><b>Pro tip- </b><i><span style="font-weight: 400">The more personalised the owner makes the experience, the better the ratings. When you’re discussing the renter’s plan, try asking questions that will give you an idea of what they like.  Even something as small as leaving a personally addressed welcome note in the rig will make the experience that much better. </span></i></p>


You have your first booking request. Now what?

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Meet, greet, smile and high five. Then dive right into the </span><a href="https://d1p9472jke9yu3.cloudfront.net/documents/O_RV_Departure_Form_Checklist_2016.pdf"><span style="font-weight: 400">RV Departure Form</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. Run through the steps to make sure your guests know how to operate the RV and all of its appliances. The list also serves as a reminder to make sure miles, fuel levels and any damages are noted before your renters take off. Make the walkthrough as hands-on or purely instructional as you like.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Unfortunately, information from walkthroughs can be easily forgotten, so take this time to give your new friends any guides or cheat sheets to the operations and quirks of your vehicle. Including the vehicle manual is always a good idea, and resources about your renter’s destination are much appreciated.</span></p>


My renters are here. What next?

My RV&#8217;s due to be returned today. How do I prepare?


<p>You can update your credit card in your account at anytime.</p>



<p>If you have a trip booked, be sure to update your card on your trip page. Otherwise, you can update it in your account settings.</p>



<h3><strong>Add a new card for a trip you already have booked</strong></h3>



<h5><em>If you already have a trip booked and you’d like any upcoming charges to go on a new card, use these instructions.&nbsp;</em></h5>



<p>Be sure to do this when logged in to the desktop or mobile website. This functionality is not yet available on our iPhone or Android apps — sorry about that.</p>



<p>From the My account dropdown in the upper right, select Upcoming trips. </p>



<p>Select the trip you need to update the card for. Then, scroll down to and expand the Payment &amp; cancellation section.</p>



<p>Under Payment details, select Change payment method. Then, open the dropdown and select Add payment method.</p>



<p>Once you’ve added your card, any upcoming payments for the trip will go on your new card. The card will also be saved to your account.&nbsp;</p>

A winner making a booking on the Outdoorsy.com platform agrees that additional criteria may be imposed by the listed vehicle’s owner. If the booking value exceeds the US$1,000.00 credit, then the winner will be solely and completely responsible for covering the booking expenses beyond the prize amount. Such booking must purchase the maximum available insurance coverage offered through the Outdoorsy.com booking platform. Outdoorsy will not be responsible for covering additional trip costs on and/or off platform, including but not limited to, mileage overage fees, gas, campground reservations, airfare or any other costs and expenses. <h3>Winner selection and notification</h3>



<p>As described in “How to Enter,” three potential winners will be selected each calendar week during the Contest Period. The three potential winners’ submissions will be published and displayed (anonymously) on multiple channels, including but not limited to paid social, other organic communities, and partner channels. Users of such channels may vote on their favorite submission, and the submission with the most votes will be selected as a potential winner.&nbsp; In the event of a tie, Outdoorsy in its sole discretion may select the winner. The potential winner will be notified via email addresses provided on the submission. In order to receive the prize, the potential winner must return email communications with Outdoorsy’s team to set the delivery conditions of the prize. If the potential winner fails to give respond to the email within 14 days or is found to be, in Outdoorsy’s sole discretion, ineligible or in violation of these Official Rules, such potential winner and his/her entry will be disqualified, and an alternate winner will be selected from all remaining eligible entries.&nbsp; Outdoorsy may request paperwork that the potential winner will be required to complete in order to be awarded the prize (including, but not limited to, a publicity release, tax documentation, drivers license information, evidence of insurability, and/or liability release). <h4>General terms</h4>



<p>Decisions made by Outdoorsy are final and binding in all matters, including interpretation of these Official Rules and awarding of the prize. Entrants assume all risk of loss, damage, destruction, delay, or misdirection of Contest materials submitted to Outdoorsy. Outdoorsy reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest, or any part of it, if any virus, bugs, other technical failures, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or any other causes beyond Outdoorsy’s control impair the administration, security, integrity, or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Outdoorsy in its sole discretion. <h4>Release and indemnification</h4>



<p>By participating in the Contest, you agree to release from liability and hold harmless Outdoorsy and its parent company, affiliates, and related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, and employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Contest or the receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. Entrants agree to indemnify the Released Parties and any other companies associated with the Contest, including any vendors or marketing agencies, and any third parties who have provided prizing. The indemnity covers all claims made not only by potential winners, but also by anyone participating in the Contest. The indemnity covers both claims arising out of the Contest itself, and claims arising from any use of the prizes.</p>



<h4>Limitation of liability</h4>



<p>Outdoorsy is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors, or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, malfunctions, delays, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; (4) late, lost, undeliverable, damaged, stolen, misdirected, or postage-due entries; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any prize, or from any trip booked or taken using the prize. <h4>Disputes</h4>



<p>This Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and State of Texas without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participating in this Contest, entrant agrees that any and all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively and solely before a state or federal court located in Austin, Texas. Further, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.</p>



<h4>Privacy policy</h4>

Can I track where renters take my vehicle?


<p>The amount on your 1099-K represents your tax liability as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).</p>



<p>The IRS requires Outdoorsy to base our 1099-K reporting on the gross reportable payments that renters make to our platform.&nbsp;</p>



<ul><li><strong>Included in 1099-K reporting: </strong>For each rental, the amount a renter pays for the vehicle (nightly rate multiplied by the number of nights), as well as any add-ons. This is <em>before</em> the owner service fee has been subtracted.</li><li><strong>Not included in 1099-K reporting:</strong> The amount renters pay directly to Outdoorsy for insurance, as a renter service fee, and as sales/transactional tax.</li></ul>



<h4><strong>Why include the owner service fee on 1099-Ks?</strong></h4>



<p>Because it doesn’t come out of the customer’s payment to Outdoorsy. It comes out of our payout to you.</p>



<p>Again, the IRS requires us to base our 1099-K reporting on renters’ payments and not owners’ payouts.&nbsp;</p>



<p>This means your 1099-K will differ from your total payouts for the year in your Outdoorsy account. The difference is the owner service fee. It’s included in 1099-K reporting. It’s not included in your total payouts for the year.&nbsp;</p>



<p>This could change in the future. We watch tax laws closely so we can help you comply. We’ll implement any changes that impact you and your tax liability.</p>



<h4><strong>Reminder about service fees</strong></h4>



<p>Both RV owners and renters pay a service fee. Renters pay a percentage of their rental cost. Owners, a percentage of their payout. This helps enable Outdoorsy to maintain a secure and updated platform.</p>


Where’d the taxable amount on my 1099-K come from?


<p>The federal government imposes tax reporting requirements on companies like Outdoorsy. This means we must notify the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of reportable payments that just about everyone receives from our platform.</p>



<p>Without your tax info, we can’t do this. But, that doesn’t mean you&#8217;re off the hook.</p>



<p>By law, if Outdoorsy doesn’t have your tax information, we must withhold at least 24% of your reportable payments as income tax. We remit this to the IRS for you.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>Where do I add my tax info?</strong></h4>



<p>You can add your tax information in the Account area of your <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/dashboard/account/payout" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dashboard</a>, on the Payout preferences or Tax docs tab.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>What if I don’t add my tax info?</strong></h4>



<p>Automatic withholding (24% of your reportable payments) begins January 1, 2022.</p>



<h4><strong>Can I stop automatic withholdings once they’ve begun?</strong></h4>



<p>Yes, once you provide your tax information, Outdoorsy will stop withholding on future payouts.</p>



<h4><strong>What happens to the money that Outdoorsy withholds?</strong></h4>



<p>We remit the money to the IRS in your name, and you may be able to treat the withholdings as tax payments made by you. However, you may face difficulties given that the payments we remit aren’t tied to your taxpayer identification number.&nbsp;</p>



<p>That’s why, even if withholding has started, you should provide your tax information to Outdoorsy.&nbsp;</p>



<p>You should consult with your tax professional for more information.</p>



<h4><strong>I just submitted my tax information. Will Outdoorsy pay me back what it withheld?</strong></h4>



<p>It depends on when the withholding occurred and when you submitted your tax information. However, generally, Outdoorsy is prohibited from returning withheld amounts.&nbsp;</p>



<h4><strong>Does Outdoorsy always notify the IRS of my reportable payments?</strong></h4>



<p>It depends on how much you receive in <a href="https://www.outdoorsy.com/help/whered-the-taxable-amount-on-my-1099-k-come-from" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reportable payments</a> each year:</p>



<h5><strong>$600 or more</strong></h5>



<p>Yes, we must notify the IRS of your reportable payments, starting in 2022. We’ll also prepare a 1099-K for you and send a copy to the IRS.&nbsp;</p>



<h5><strong>Less than $600</strong></h5>



<p>We may not report anything to the IRS. You should consult with your own tax advisers to determine whether you need to report any activity on your income tax return.</p>



<h4><strong>American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021</strong></h4>



<p>If you’ve been active on Outdoorsy and have never come across these tax requirements, it’s because some of them are new for 2022.</p>



<p>ARPA introduced the $600 threshold for tax reporting. This goes into effect on January 1, 2022.</p>
