We get that renting out your RV can be both an exciting and scary decision — that’s why we go above and beyond to give you maximum peace of mind when you share your rig with the world.
From our $1 million liability policy to our comprehensive collision coverage, we’ve revolutionized insurance options to keep you covered when you rent your RV with Outdoorsy.
We offer industry-leading insurance for our rentals partly because your personal RV insurance will almost never cover you during a rental period. In fact, most insurances won’t even cover you during personal use if you rent out your rig at other times.
You can also check out our preferred RV insurance partner, Roamly, to find competitive rates for personal RV insurance that’ll cover you for personal use and allow you to rent out your rig.
Our liability insurance is provided by Assurant*, one of the largest insurance providers in the world.
For any damage to your rig, Outdoorsy provides direct coverage to you as an owner, backed by Lloyd’s of London.
Outdoorsy’s insurance protection program covers you, your vehicle, and every approved renter in the case of any covered incidents, up to $1M. You can find the full policy details for owners here and for renters here.
Our insurance protection plans feature tiered deductibles depending on the value of the rented vehicle. The renter is responsible for the deductible, which can range from $500 to $1,500 on the Physical Damage and Comprehensive & Collision coverages in the event of a damage claim. The deductible is the responsibility of the renter.
Our insurance is embedded in the rental process with no additional premiums or monthly fees for owners.
Owners who list their vehicles on the Outdoorsy platform can apply for vehicle protection through the listing tool. If your vehicle is approved, it would qualify as a covered vehicle provided that the vehicle is properly maintained as described and required in the Outdoorsy Terms of Service. Please note that any motorized unit or trailer with a salvage-title history does not qualify for coverage. If you have an older vehicle, know that Outdoorsy is the only major RV rental platform that covers vehicles older than 15 years for both Physical Damage and Liability. Vehicles registered in the state of New York do not qualify.
Please note that any vehicle not meeting consistent safety verification standards outlined by Outdoorsy’s vehicle certification requirements and terms will be disqualified as a covered vehicle.
Outdoorsy offers episodic insurance, meaning that coverage lasts for the duration of the rental period that your renter books on our platform.
Coverage for renters goes in force when you hand the keys to an approved driver and ends when that driver hands you the keys back at the end of the rental period or drops the vehicle and keys off at an agreed location.
For owners, Outdoorsy is thrilled to be the only RV marketplace to offer insurance coverage while you’re delivering your rig to your renters.
We offer three different levels of insurance so renters can choose the most suitable level of protection for their needs.
No matter which of the three insurance packages a renter chooses, Outdoorsy owners are protected with $1 million in liability coverage. Eligible RVs are also protected against physical damage up to their cash value. . Roadside Assistance is also offered on all purchased Outdoorsy Protection Packages as a courtesy to our renters.
Here are the three choices of insurance coverage for renters:
If you plan to deliver your RV to your renter, they will be able to select our stationary delivery insurance option.
This option will save money for your renter and will give you increased peace of mind because no one but you will be driving your RV!
In addition to damage claims that might occur, we go the extra mile to offer extra options for you and your renter.
Windshield coverage helps when road rocks chip your windshield. This is included with each package at no extra cost.
Accident Interruption Protection reimburses renters for days lost due to accidents. This coverage is included in our Peace of Mind package.
Interior Damage Protection offers extra peace of mind for damages like broken appliances, damaged interior doors, and stained bedding or linens.
Trip Insurance can reimburse your renter if a covered situation (e.g. medical event or natural disaster) stops their trip before it starts.
In the event a claim needs to be filed, you need to have pre-trip photos, post-trip photos, and either the Driveable RV Departure and RV Return forms or the Towable RV Departure and RV return forms, completed and signed.
